Radiological Study of Emergency Brain Computerized Tomographic Examination


Abstract
The retrospective evaluation of 440 cases of emergency brain CT examinations from January 1989 to October 1989 leads to following conclusions£º.
l. Emergency brain CT was 19.1£¥ of total CT examination and 34.0£¥ of total brain CT examination.
2. Most prevalent age group of emergency brain CT examination was 7th decade, and sex ratio between male and female was 1.6£º1.
3. Most frequent cause of emergency brain CT examination was trauma.
4. Referring department were almost neurological department (49.8£¥) and neurosurgical department(46.1£¥).
5. Time interval between arriving at emergency room and CT study were within 30 minutes (5.0£¥), 30 miuntes to 1 hour (11.1£¥), 1~2 hours (22.5£¥) and after 6 hours(25.7£¥).
6. CT findings were hemorrhagic condition (36.1£¥) and normal (37.5£¥).
7. Treatment after emergency examination were admission (66.8£¥), self discharge or transferred to other hospital (22.3£¥) and expired (8.0£¥).
